PROVISION OF COMMUNICATIONS AND VISIBILITY SERVICES TO THE SADC SECRETARIAT

DEM awarded contract to support SADC´s Communication and Public Relations Unit. This 4-years project will provide Communication/Public Relations services to facilitate: Increased awareness of and knowledge about SADC, its activities and impact as well as SADC-EU programmes, in all MS and globally.
The consortium includes DEM (lead) and Seaton from Botswana. Contract value: USD 1.400.000,00
a)Improved access to and exchange of information and knowledge about regional integration by SADC MS and the region’s ordinary citizens;
b)Strengthened relationships with the media and strengthened media capacity to competently report on SADC in general and SADC-EU cooperation in particular;
c)Increased presence of SADC and EU on online and social media platforms through creation of shareable multimedia video and image content;
d)Communication of the SADC-EU partnership through specific content highlighting the impact of SADC-EU joint programmes on the lives of citizens of the region.
Successful implementation of Communication and Visibility Plans for the identified SADC projects resulting in increased awareness and visibility of SADC, SADC EU partnership and well informed stakeholders and the public on SADC’s programmes and its impact.
Scope of the Work
The European Union and other ICPs are providing financial resources to the SADC Secretariat for the implementation of the following programmes:
1.Support to Peace and Security in the SADC Region.
2.Support towards industrialization and productive sectors.
3.Support to intra-SADC investment and foreign direct investment.
4.EU-SADC Trade Facilitation Programme
5.Integrated Institutional Capacity Building of the SADC Secretariat and national stakeholders.
6.SADC-EU Dialogue Facility.
7.Support to Regional Agricultural Policy.
8.Tripartite Transport and Transit Facilitation Programme.
9.Climate Services Programme
10.Global Climate Change Alliance Plus (GCCA+)
These programmes have communication, visibility and media buy-in components, which will be managed by the SADC Secretariat’s Communication and PR Unit and project coordinators.
DEM shall give support to the Unit to implement related communications and visibility activities in line with the agreed communications and visibility plans to be developed, in collaboration with the project coordinators.
The activities will include traveling to some of the SADC Member States and DEM will have the support from the SADC PRU and the SADC National Media Coordinators who have access to media networks in the SADC Member States.
SADC has established SADC National Media Coordinators in all of the SADC Member States who among others facilitate liaison with various media houses in each SADC Member States and enhancing media buy in.
DEM will produce the deliverables in the three SADC official languages, English, French and Portuguese.
