DEM Supports the Efforts for the Further Promotion and Protection of the Rights of the Child in Europe

On 12 April, the EU Delegation to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg organised a public online conference to mark the recent adoption of the new EU Strategy on the Rights of the Child, map out synergies with the upcoming Council of Europe respective Strategy for the Rights of the Child and grasp the importance of international standards for the protection of the rights of children across Europe.
The event, entitled ‘A Europe for All Children – Securing the Present, Building the Future’, brought together key speakers from the EU and the Council of Europe, centrally engaged in the definition of strategies, policies and recommendations on the rights of the child. It provided a very good opportunity to highlight the coherence and convergence between the European Union and the Council of Europe’s respective standards of protection for the rights of the child, as well as the great willingness on the side of both organisations to strengthen their cooperation and synergies in this field.
DEM supported the organisation of this timely conference and the public communication carried out in the run-up to the event. We share the values of our partners in the EU and together stay committed to further promoting respect for human rights, including the rights of the child.
